Based on actual experience this week, the risk of confusion between these two different private channels (with the same Becky, but two differnet Jameses) is not just theoretical.

I was especially befuddled by the fact that Slack added the last initial to Becky (which didn’t need it – because it’s the same Becky), but not to James (which did need it). But then I learned that Becky manually edited her first name in Slack to include her last initial, to avoid this type of confusion. What a twist ending!
